Dr. Carina Embeita is an experienced HCPC registered educational psychologist and a UKCP and AFT registered systemic family therapist. Carina is registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS)’s Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS). Her approach is rooted in systemic theory and principles, as well as evidence based psychological and therapeutic practice.
Originally from Argentina, Carina moved to England in 1998 to complete a Masters Degree in Comparative Education. She later qualified as an Educational Psychologist (EP) at the Tavistock Clinic in 2005. Over the past 20 years, she has worked as an EP in three different local authorities in England as well as in independent practice.
In 2018, she qualified as a systemic family therapist at the Institute of Family Therapy in London. She offers bilingual psychology and therapy services in English and Spanish, drawing on her own lived experience of navigating cultures, languages, and identities. Carina is an accredited Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) practitioner, and has offered this systemic intervention to both parents and special schools since 2019.
Carina completed a post-qualifying doctorate in Educational Psychology at UCL (University College London) in 2025. Her research focused on the parental experiences of permanent exclusion from secondary schools. Carina is currently a Research Fellow at UCL, conducting research on different areas such as education and youth justice; supervision, and parental involvement in secondary education.
CEPT brings together Carina’s values, training, and experience: a practice grounded in compassion, systemic thinking, research evidence and a deep respect for the stories people carry. Whether working with families, schools, or professionals, her aim is to create spaces where people feel heard, understood, and supported to move forward.
